It goes back to the saying "if you're so smart, how come you ain't rich?" As if the top 1% in self-made wealth are the top 1% in smarts. Some are smart, but plenty are in the 1% because they are bullies, frauds, scammers, egomaniacs, cheats, greedy and narrow-minded. Those correlations are probably as significant as smarts. If they "win" it's mainly because they are alpha males -- and who needs those?
