Have you thought of what technology's impact best matches AI development to date? Self-driving cars might fir well, but it itself is AI.

I thought of the printing press as one example (not saying it's a good one), which transformed the world, perhaps in a more subtle way. Printing presses "hallucinated" too, but a social infrastructure arguably grew to control some of its excesses.
