"Galaxies beyond our universe"? I was expecting to read "galaxies outside the Local Group" or something along those lines. I thought that by definition all galaxies are "inside" the universe.

I think Hubble was active in the 1920s. I'm guessing that was after galaxies were discovered but before they knew galaxies were in groups?
