Good exegesis! Given all the wild perceptions of Christianity, it's good to get back to the essence of it. FWIW, as devout Catholic in my childhood and an agnostic now, I don't buy Lewis' three L's, specifically that you have to swallow the whole thing.

What exactly Christ said is subject to historical question. He often spoke in parables. So I take claims of Godhood as potentially figuratively or poetically intended.

Christ's concept of doing good stands on its own just fine, and it was a powerful force in the first century or two of the religion. You can follow Christian moral beliefs just fine and live an exemplary life, without getting hung up in the other mumbo-jumbo.
