I think you're associating people's attitudes with their words. Of course people will make all sorts of excuses for unacceptable attitudes and conduct. But their excuses are just excuses. Instead of looking at the words they use, look at their intent -- which is to excuse themselves from justified accusations.

The words themselves have meaning that is independent of those people. Good people use those words to communicate something entirely different. Why then are you condemning them?

I don't think you mean to do that. But I think you owe it to Medium readers and yourself to be more discerning when you cast judgments like that.
