I’ve read a fair amount of analytic philosophy (see link below). I’ve never read anything that explicitly defined truth this way. The definition came from connecting the dots in the philosophy I’ve read. In this sense, I guess it’s my own summary.

Please note the truth unit here. You gave me the choice of “drawn from somewhere” and “my own summary.” I answered first with an account of my experiences reading and thinking about truth. I wasn’t exactly sure how you defined each of the choices you offered. My experience was my experience. To answer you by choosing one or the other, I took each of your offered choices as a test, and evaluated which option best described my experience. It seemed to me “summary” fit best, so that is my answer.

Your definition of “drawn” and “summary” might lead to a different test, after which you might agree or disagree with my answer. But hopefully it was constructive to offer the whole “truth unit” behind my choice.

I wasn’t thinking of truth units when I wrote the first paragraph above, I was just thinking the way I usually try to think. Only after writing the first paragraph did I see the truth unit structure to it.

To be more academically rigorous with this definition, I’ll write a follow-up article. Your thoughts on this definition are very much appreciated.

In addition, I've responded to other commenters in "reply" form.
