Thank you, Clive, this was educational in the best sense, i.e., on several levels. It's funny how Lemoine's experience echoes Daniel Dennett's fantasy in Consciousness Explained. (His fantasy was convincing because the AI was as loquacious and witty as Dennett is.) Glad you zeroed in on the plausible fallacy in this!
