Agreed, you can’t make a horse drink. Truth units as a social norm is a condemnation of leading horses to water and getting mad at them for not drinking. Truth units is intended as a non-confrontational pathway to the horse deciding to drink.
You’re exactly right, the issue in town is a subset of the population that utterly rejects what’s good for the town as a whole. They only care about what’s inside their property lines, the rest of the town be damned. My frustration with their opposition is they keep trying to frame it as “what’s good for the town”—leading the horse to water and expecting them to drink.
In this light, the subset of the population that is actively engaged in the issue, on either side, all appear to be blind. My audience is people who could use truth units to open their eyes—potential facilitators of a town hall, so to speak.
