Thank you very much for the excellent response! I read the exchange with Ariel as you suggested.
I suggested to Douglas Giles, who is also vocal on this front, that maybe Medium needed to develop "sub-brands" that addressed the needs of different audiences (like first class and economy seats?) to avoid having to slice Solomon's baby in two all the time. Admittedly, this might be too risky and too costly an investment for them.
