That's a great insight that the West's morals have come unmoored from their Judeo-Christian foundations! It doesn't worry me much that it's happened. We've clearly lost our religion, starting in the 19th century with Nietzsche. But I don't think people worry about it either. People generally don't question where their deeply held come from; even so, they aren't the least inclined to understand their original meaning or question their "faith" in whatever form they believe in them now. In theory, we could reframe our morality based on Kant's philosophy (morals derive from reason) and say John Stuart Mills, Gandhi, MLK Jr, etc. But I think people's morality is largely shaped by culture and moreso by upbringing: conservative parents imprint strict mindsets on their children. Again in theory, if we all brought up our kids with the same mindset and values, that might address the problem of polarization. I also blame (social) media too.
