This essay poses a question, very commendably looks at evidence on both sides, and declines an answer -- a great read!
Does the question have to pose a binary choice? An "either or"? Can one answer "don't know" or "does not compute [in the human mind]"?
Science answers many but not all questions. You describe evidence on both sides. Can the truth, whatever it might be, possibly accommodate both sets of evidence as real? With the truth being beyond our cognition?
