This piece really stopped me in my tracks, Steven. The idea that the media is transforming reality into drama, with all the consequences you describe, has been perhaps widely suggested or intuited, but this the most concise, focused piece I've read on it. It's reductionist in the best way -- "we are turning reality into low stakes drama" -- that pretty much explains so much that so many others find unexplainable, or can't grasp at all.

What you say about "the Truth" versus probabilistic thinking I completely agree with, and it crisply articulates what much of my writing is trying to get at. Similarly "this is a dead fish" although I didn't quite how this perspective is "twice-removed"?

While there's a lot of good insight and writing on Medium, it's great when a perspective gets its head above water. Thank you.
